Size: Florida garter snakes usually get to be about 3 ft but sometimes larger

Life Span: About 10 years in captivity

Housing: About 3 adults can live in a 10 gallon aquarium, Juveniles are about 5-6 inches long and are easily housed in a plastic container but are best kept in a 10 gallon tank.
A large water dish is the best to use because they like to curl up in it. put a piece of PVC pipe in the tank for a hide, and you can keep their cage at room temperature if you live in florida, and room lighting is adequate.

Substrate: Sand is good but bark, astroturf, and paper towels work too.

Feeding: If it can take down lizards, take a pellet gun and shoot a lizard's head off (Catching them other ways work well also, but these may harbor unwanted parasites. Buying CB anoles is a healthier alternative. Nick.) and hold it by the tail in front of your garter's face and it should take it, and if it does not starve it for 2 weeks and it should then, but if it does not take it after that buy or catch tadpoles, goldfish, or guppies and put them in the garter's water dish.
